David Russell Apartments (DRA) offers modern three-star self-catering apartments and unbeatable value, which make it the perfect choice for families and groups looking for a base from which to explore the historic town of St Andrews, its award-winning beaches and world famous links courses.

Each apartment can accommodate up to 10 guests, including babies and small children.  Each apartment has five bedrooms with a double bed in each.

Each bedroom boasts an en-suite shower room, a double bed and tea and coffee making facilities. Designed and built with the environment in mind, the apartments have been awarded Gold by the Green Tourism Scheme. The development also includes a restaurant, fully licensed bar, secure cycle storage and laundry facilities.

Whilst the majority of guests stay from Saturday to Saturday, you are able to stay any number of nights during the summer season. DRA also has a number of flats set aside that are available to book by room; these come with shared kitchenette facilities and offer bed-and-breakfast and dinner packages.

Due to the preparation of our residences for a safe return of students arriving in August, unfortunately we are unable to take any leisure bookings for the remainder of Summer 2020. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and hope that we can welcome you back to stay with us here in St Andrews from June – September 2021. Rates 2020

The accommodation rates for David Russell Apartments in 2020 are:

  • Double bed en suite single occupancy bed and breakfast –  £59
  • Double bed en suite single occupancy dinner, bed and breakfast –  £72
  • Double bed en suite double occupancy bed and breakfast –  £79
  • Double bed en suite double occupancy dinner, bed and breakfast – £104

For larger groups up to 10 people, a five-bedroom double en-suite flat is available (self-catered). The rates for this are:

  • two nights: £350
  • three nights: £475
  • seven nights: £850
  • any additional night charged at £125 per night.


Each apartment includes the following:

  • five bedrooms, which each feature a double bed (four foot six inches wide), individual climate control and an en-suite shower room
  • kitchen with a soft seating area, breakfast bar with five stools, oven, microwave, fridge freezer, tv and a dishwasher
  • basic cooking equipment including pans, mixing bowl, casserole dish, as well as crockery, glassware and cutlery for 10
  • an iron and ironing board
  • complimentary WiFi available throughout the residence.

There are a small number of travel cots available for use; please enquire about cots at time of booking, and staff will reserve one for you if available. However, please note that linen is not provided for travel cots.

Flats are cleaned for arrival, but there is no cleaning service for stays of less than one week. If you are staying for more than one week, residence staff will change beds and empty rubbish.

Staff will endeavour to keep disturbances to a minimum, however they may need to enter your apartment to carry out checks as part of the health and safety programme, including checking emergency lights or fire doors. Staff will always knock and will be identifiable by uniform. If you have any concerns please contact reception.

Please be aware we have a limited number of ground floor flats and no lift access. Therefore, please call reception +44 (0)1334 46 7100 before booking to avoid disappointment.

Check in and out

Normal check in time is 2pm. If your apartment is ready, residence staff will do their best to accommodate you; if your apartment is not ready, you will be able to store your luggage at reception. we can provide you with somewhere to store your luggage.

Normal check out time is 10am. It may be possible to stay later depending on when the apartment is needed for other guests arriving later that day.

David Russell Apartments reception is located in our central facilities building, which also houses the bar and bistro. The apartments are a short walk from reception. It is not possible to park right outside the buildings, but the car park is only three to four minutes’ walk from the buildings. Each building has 11 to 12 apartments over four floors.
